Call for Cross-Cutting Challenges
The goal of the Cross-Cutting Challenges (CCC) event is to come together to focus on specific interdisciplinary challenges (“themes”) calling for united solutions from the haptics community. The CCC was introduced at the 2018 Haptics Symposium and was successful by the caliber of keynote speakers and a variety of topics during the interactive sessions. The 2019 World Haptics Conference will also have a CCC session and seeks further issues to contribute to our community. Themes of the CCC are opened publicly and a single theme will be selected.
focused on a single theme
Afternoon on Day 1: Tuesday, July 9th, 2019.
- Plenary talks (3 to 4, presented sequentially)
- Short talks and/or Panel Discussion
Financial support will be available.
Instructions for Organizers
The organizers can arrange each talk and panel discussion flexibly. The final structure will be arranged appropriately by the organizers and Cross-Cutting Challenges Chairs.
Each talk should synthesize research performed by the presenter, and it should include recent related works and forward-looking, emerging directions that the presenter sees as opportunities within the sub-domain. The plenary session should cover multi-research fields through plenary talks with different disciplines. One or two of organizers are expected to give a plenary talk. It is recommended to invite two researchers active outside the haptic community to the plenary talk.
Short Talks and/or Panel Discussion
To promote synergistic discussion for the selected theme, short talks and panel discussion by researchers, industries, and other stakeholders with different background are encouraged.
The selection committee consists of three academic members, three industrial members, the Cross-Cutting Challenges (CCC) Chairs, one conference chair, and the theme’s organizers. The three academic will be chosen by the CCC Chairs to represent haptic science, applications, and technology. The industrial members are also chosen by the CCC Chairs.
Email your submission to cccws[at]worldhaptics2019.org.
